The Sparkenhoe Lodge No.8063 which meets at the Masonic Hall in Hinckley, Leicestershire celebrated the 50th anniversary of it’s Consecration at their meeting on 23rd February 2016.
The Provincial Grand Master R.W.Bro. David Hagger along with 32 Officers of the Provincial Grand Lodge attended the meeting to celebrate the occasion. At the meeting, the new Master W.Bro. Colin Brink was Installed by his predecessor W.Bro. Ian Truslove in a most sincere manner.
A Petition for the formation of an additional Lodge, to the existing Knights of Malta Lodge No.50 in Hinckley was submitted in 1965 to the United Grand Lodge of England. The Consecration and Installation Ceremonies of Sparkenhoe Lodge subsequently took place at the Masonic Hall, Hinckley on 22nd February 1966, with the Provincial Grand Master R.W.Bro. Brigadier C.B.S. Morley presiding, along with the Officers from Provincial Grand Lodge. Since then Sparkenhoe has maintained a stable membership of around fifty, sustained by a steady stream of new members.
The Lodge celebrated it’s 50th anniversary in the presence of it’s only surviving Founder, W.Bro. Allison Gibson-Leitch who was also presented with a 50 year certificate of service by the Provincial Grand Master. A book on the brief history of the Lodge, complied by W.Bro. Peter Gibson-Leitch, was presented to all of those attending.
The Sparkenhoe Lodge proudly looks to the next fifty years which high confidence for its continued prosperity and well being.
